Ardent Federal Credit Union

Ardent Credit Union notified one Maryland resident that their account number was exposed due to an incorrect scanning of the MCIR line on a paper check, causing the check to clear from the wrong account. The credit union contacted the resident, provided credit reporting agency and FTC/OAG contact info, and offered an account number change.

On June 5, 2020, an unauthorized individual gained access to an Ardent Credit Union employee's email account. The account contained members' names, Social Security numbers, and/or driver's license numbers collected during normal business operations. Ardent blocked the unauthorized access, engaged a forensic vendor, and offered Experian credit monitoring to affected individuals. Notification letters were sent in January 2021.
