Viator notified customers on September 19, 2014, of a data compromise discovered on September 2, 2014. The incident potentially affected payment card data (encrypted card numbers, expiration dates), billing addresses, email addresses, and encrypted passwords for Viator account holders. Viator hired forensic experts, notified law enforcement and credit card companies, and offered free identity protection services to U.S. customers. The investigation was ongoing at the time of notification.
