Sound Generations

Sound Generations, a non-profit serving older adults and adults with disabilities in Washington, experienced two ransomware incidents on July 18 and September 18, 2021. An unauthorized party gained access to computer systems and encrypted information. Affected data includes names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, dates of birth, and for some individuals, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, health information, and financial account numbers. The organization terminated access, conducted an investigation, and enhanced cybersecurity controls. Credit monitoring was offered to affected employees.

Sound Generations, a non-profit, experienced an external system breach between July and September 2021. The incident compromised the names and driver's license numbers of 943 Maine residents. Sound Generations reported to HHS on 2021-11-29 a Hacking/IT Incident affecting 456,243 individuals. Breached information located on Network Server. The business associate was the victim of a ransomware attack affecting PHI including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, health insurance information, and treatment information. The BA implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards and retrained its staff.
