AxleHire Inc. experienced a data security incident on January 31, 2021, caused by a software glitch during the preparation of 1099 tax forms. The error resulted in some drivers receiving incorrect 1099 forms containing other drivers' personal information, including names, addresses, and Social Security numbers. AxleHire fixed the software issue, sent corrected forms, contacted affected drivers to discard the erroneous documents, and offered two years of complimentary identity monitoring services.
