Volt Information Sciences, Inc. reported a data breach affecting 4,687 California residents. Between August 6 and October 4, 2018, an unknown actor gained unauthorized access to employee email accounts and used them to send phishing emails. Affected data included names, SSNs, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, credit/debit card info, and medical/health insurance information. Volt secured accounts, retained forensic investigators, and offered one year of credit monitoring via Kroll to affected individuals starting February 15, 2019.
