An employee's unencrypted, password-protected laptop was stolen from a vehicle. The laptop potentially contained names, addresses, dates of birth, SSNs, phone numbers, insurance numbers, diagnoses, referral IDs, and medical record numbers. The CE was mid-acquisition of another facility and accelerated laptop encryption. OCR obtained corrective action assurances.
