Alcon Vision, LLC disclosed that on October 5, 2021, a technical error caused an email sent to health care providers to inadvertently include limited patient information (name, device serial number, date of implant, treating physician) for patients who received Alcon intraocular lens implants, rather than only the provider's own patients. No financial information or SSNs were involved. Alcon notified providers to delete the data and reviewed internal processes.
