Desert Healthcare Services, LLC (AZ) reported to HHS OCR on 2019-06-11 a ransomware (Hacking/IT Incident) affecting 8,000 individuals. The server was compromised by ransomware; forensic analysis determined ePHI exposure was unlikely as it was encrypted. DHS notified the FBI, engaged a forensic investigator, and hired a cybersecurity firm to remove the malware. Additional security safeguards were implemented.
