The California Department of Social Services reported a security incident involving a package containing personal information for In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) providers and recipients. The package was in transit between the Hewlett Packard processing center and the State Compensation Insurance Fund when it arrived damaged on May 1, 2012, with some contents missing. Affected data included scanned document images and employer tax identification numbers. The state is working to recover the information and has notified the Attorney General and State Office of Privacy Protection.
