Artesia General Hospital (Artesia, NM) reported to HHS OCR on 2019-10-17 a Hacking/IT Incident affecting 858 individuals. Two workforce members fell victim to an email phishing scheme, compromising ePHI including names, addresses, phone numbers, health insurance information, and diagnoses stored on a desktop computer. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and media, and implemented additional administrative/technical safeguards and phishing-awareness retraining. OCR obtained assurances of corrective action.
