On March 9, 2021, the City of Azusa Police Department discovered a ransomware attack that rendered certain computer systems inaccessible. The investigation determined that an unauthorized individual accessed and acquired certain information, including Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account information, and medical information. The Department did not pay the ransom. Affected individuals were offered credit monitoring services.
