Kearney Public Schools reported unauthorized access to its computer network, resulting in the exfiltration of files containing names, Social Security numbers, direct deposit information, and potentially driver's license numbers for 4,527 Nebraska residents. The District notified law enforcement, secured its network, and mailed notification letters on November 3, 2025, offering one year of complimentary identity monitoring through Experian.

Kearney Public Schools (Nebraska) disclosed a ransomware attack by the Interlock hacking group. The incident compromised sensitive data of current and former staff and Special Education students, including SSNs, driver's licenses, bank account details, and HIPAA/FERPA records. No ransom was demanded. The organization engaged Fortinet for incident response, notified law enforcement (FBI, State Patrol, AG), and is strengthening cybersecurity systems.
