AAA Energy Service Co. experienced a ransomware attack on February 28, 2023, involving Royal Ransomware. The attacker encrypted systems, demanded a ransom, and subsequently published stolen PII (including SSNs) of approximately 41 New Hampshire residents (employees and payees) on a dark web site. The company did not pay the ransom, engaged forensic consultants, rebuilt systems, and notified the FBI and state AGs. Identity theft monitoring reimbursement was offered.

AAA Energy Service Co. reported an external system breach that occurred on December 6, 2022, and was discovered on February 28, 2023. The incident affected 141 Maine residents, compromising their names and Social Security numbers. Notification letters were sent to affected individuals on May 8, 2023, and identity theft protection services were offered.
