Santa Catalina School notified California residents of a data breach involving vendor Blackbaud, Inc. Unauthorized access to Blackbaud's systems occurred between February 7, 2020, and May 20, 2020, during which backup files containing client data were exfiltrated and an attempt was made to encrypt files for ransom. Blackbaud paid a ransom and confirmed the files were destroyed. Santa Catalina School determined on February 23, 2021, that unencrypted backup files contained some affected individuals' information. The school is offering 12 months of complimentary identity monitoring services.
