Alpharma, Inc. reported that its pension consulting vendor, Towers Perrin, suffered the theft of five laptops from its New York office on December 1, 2006. The laptops contained personal information of approximately 3,705 current and former Alpharma employees, including names, addresses, SSNs, and disability status. Towers Perrin engaged forensic investigators and delayed notification per law enforcement request. Affected individuals were offered one year of credit monitoring.
