Xavier High School notified affected individuals of a data security incident involving its vendor, Blackbaud, Inc. Blackbaud experienced a ransomware attack between Feb 7 and May 20, 2020, resulting in the exfiltration of encrypted backup files. While Blackbaud initially stated data was secure, a subsequent investigation on Sept 29, 2020, revealed that unencrypted backups containing names and SSNs were accessed. Blackbaud paid a ransom and confirmed data destruction. Xavier High School notified affected individuals after determining on Dec 16, 2020, that their data was involved. Blackbaud offered 2 years of credit monitoring.
