A laptop computer containing patient names, addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, insurance information, and medical diagnostic codes was stolen from its office by a former employee. In response, the company notified affected individuals, completed a laptop encryption project, and reinforced HIPAA training for employees following an OCR investigation.
