The theft occurred on October 18, 2016, and was discovered on December 21, 2016. The laptop may have contained protected health information (PHI) for pediatric patients, including names, dates of birth, addresses, medical record numbers, and clinical information. The hospital enhanced encryption on physician laptops as a remediation measure.
