Sterling Bank and Trust, FSB

Sterling Bank and Trust reported that a package containing 1099 tax forms mailed from its Southfield, Michigan location on January 26, 2023, was damaged while in the possession of courier service FedEx. The bank learned of the incident on January 27, 2023. The lost forms contained personal information including names, addresses, and likely Social Security numbers and financial account details. The bank is attempting to locate the files but assumes they are permanently lost. No evidence of intentional diversion or misuse was found.
