Century Federal Credit Union reported a data breach to the Maine Attorney General, stating that an external system breach (hacking) occurred between August 30, 2023, and September 30, 2023. The breach was discovered on November 29, 2023. The compromised information includes names in combination with financial account numbers or credit/debit card numbers along with their security codes, access codes, passwords, or PINs. A total of 13,984 individuals were affected, including 5 residents of Maine. Affected individuals were notified on March 4, 2024, and offered 12 months of identity theft protection services through Experian.

Century Federal Credit Union notified consumers that an unauthorized party accessed an employee email account between August 30 and September 30, 2023. The accessed data included names and additional personal information. The credit union secured the account, investigated, and offered one year of Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring to affected individuals.
