AIR METHODS CORPORATION

Air Methods reported the theft of an unencrypted laptop containing patient PII (names, SSNs, contact info, diagnosis/treatment data) from a broken-into billing office on Nov 9, 2023. Air Methods, LLC (NV, Healthcare Provider) reported to HHS OCR on 2024-01-12 a Theft affecting 34,063 individuals. A laptop was stolen during a burglary. PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, medications, and claims/treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media, provided substitute notice, offered credit monitoring, and implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards.
