The Vanguard Group, Inc. notified clients that their Social Security Numbers (SSNs) were inadvertently exposed in unredacted form on Vanguard Brokerage Account new account applications. The error occurred when a Docusign template failed to redact the SSN field while forwarding completed forms to additional authorized signers. Vanguard placed security alerts on affected accounts and offered two years of complimentary identity monitoring through Kroll. No evidence of misuse was reported.
