Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. reported an insider threat incident to the New Hampshire Attorney General. On December 31, 2021, an employee emailed an encrypted file containing personal information (names, SSNs, DOBs) of other employees to a personal email address. The breach was detected by Data Loss Prevention systems. The employee was terminated, and 53 New Hampshire residents were notified on May 6, 2022. Remediation included enhanced fraud monitoring and two years of complimentary identity theft protection.
