Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union notified members that a third-party credit card systems vendor mistakenly sent an encrypted file containing personal information (name, SSN, credit card number, address, loan balance) to another credit union on July 17, 2019. The credit union discovered the error on July 24, 2019. The recipient credit union destroyed the data immediately. No unauthorized access to LAPFCU systems occurred. The vendor implemented additional security protocols. Credit monitoring was offered.
