A former employee downloaded personally identifiable information, including names, social security numbers, and some home addresses, to an unencrypted personal device. The data pertained to employee records from 2007 and vendor/employee records from 2007-2010. CDFW notified the California Highway Patrol, which is investigating. No malicious intent by the former employee has been indicated. CDFW is reviewing policies to prevent recurrence.
