MKRS Law, a law firm, reported a data breach affecting 16,471 individuals, including one Maine resident. The breach occurred between August 19, 2020, and August 23, 2020, and was discovered on February 17, 2022. The incident was categorized as an external system breach (hacking), where an unauthorized party gained access to systems containing personal information. The compromised data includes names and Social Security numbers. In response, MKRS Law began notifying affected individuals on April 22, 2022, and offered 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Kroll.
