An employee inappropriately accessed patient admission reports at South Florida State Hospital and provided them without authorization to a third party (the employee's cousin), who then attempted to sell the reports illegally. PHI exposed included names, dates of birth, SSNs, admission/discharge dates, and unit names, stored on Desktop Computer. The employee was terminated and criminally indicted. OCR confirmed corrective actions were completed.
