Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) notified patients of a security incident involving its third-party EMR provider, Eye Care Leaders, Inc. (ECL). On December 4, 2021, an attacker accessed and deleted ECL's Integrity EMR databases containing patient PHI and PII. While ECL found no evidence of exfiltration, insufficient logs prevented ruling it out. TTUHSC engaged IT experts and legal counsel, offered credit monitoring, and reported to HHS and state regulators.
