Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed) filed a supplemental notice with the Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection on January 11, 2011, updating the number of affected Hawaii residents to approximately 3,546. PenFed discovered on December 12, 2010 that a laptop infected with malware permitted unauthorized access to a database containing members' names, addresses, SSNs, and financial account numbers. PenFed eliminated the malware, reissued cards, and engaged Kroll Inc. to provide two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services.
