Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company reported a data breach involving a financial advisor who was the victim of a computer scam on August 31, 2017. Fraudsters used social engineering during a telephone call to gain remote access to the advisor's desktop computer. This incident potentially compromised personally identifiable information, including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health/medical information, policy/account information, and banking information for clients. The company notified law enforcement and offered 24 months of identity protection services through AllClear ID.
