Blue Shield of California disclosed that its website inadvertently displayed Agent ID numbers (which are Social Security Numbers) for Individual and Family Plan members on transaction confirmation pages. The exposure occurred between December 20, 2013, and January 16, 2014. The company discovered the issue on January 13, 2014, and removed the data display by January 16, 2014. The incident involved potential exposure of SSNs, names, and billing/payment information. Blue Shield offered one year of Experian identity protection services.
